I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page)

If you have My First School Book <\/strong>from Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>, as well as My First Lowercase Book<\/strong> for advanced skills, we will use them.
We can start with My First Book<\/strong>, turn to page 4<\/strong> and have your child sing the alphabet song pointing to each letter with his\/her finger. Then have your child aim and scribble the stars and fireflies on pages 5, 6 and 7<\/strong> with crayons. Watch for the proper grip and help your child to find it, if needed. https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/blog\/how-to-hold-pencil-grip<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As another daily activity, you might want to ask your child about the poster with rules for a safe and learning environment<\/strong> you created together on the third day, and let him\/her tell you the rules (pre-reading skills).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the tune of \u201cClementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For science, you need to find different materials that your child can touch<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Soft and hard (Like a Teddy bear and a rock)<\/li>
  2. smooth and rough (like glass and bark)<\/li>
  3. heavy and light (like a feather and stone)<\/li>
  4. lumpy and grainy (like dirt clumps and sand)<\/li>
  5. pointy and rounded (like a pencil and eraser)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As Quick As A Cricket<\/span> by Audrey Wood https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NYWcyRHGFPo<\/a> is a fun book to read to your child. After viewing the book, share with your child some of your attributes (I am as……. as a……..) and then help your child to come up with attributes for himself\/herself. This activity helps expand your child\u2019s vocabulary<\/strong> and photographic memory<\/strong> of words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and the counters<\/strong> you put in a container is an excellent practice for your child\u2019s mathematical skills. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has less? Which are the same?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    As an extension<\/strong>, you can break down the number of counters into smaller amounts in groups (For a group of 5 counters, A group of 3 and a group of 2, and see with your child which one is bigger or smaller; or a group of 1 and a group of 4 counters) and then put the counters\/groups back together. Do we still have the same total amount of counters or did it change?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Have your child explore paint with his\/her hands on a piece of paper. You might want to add some shaving cream to bring texture to the washable paint and an apron to protect your child\u2019s clothes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
