I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who do you have in your family?

For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page), either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have My First School Book <\/strong>from Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>, we will use it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood.<\/strong> You can purchase them at https:\/\/www.lwtears.com<\/a> or make them your self. We can continue with My First Book<\/strong>, turn to page 16, 17, 18, and 19<\/strong> and have your child aim and color.

Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the tune of \u201cClementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a member of your family, ask your child what families are like. Have your child describe what a family is and what it does. Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the theme of family, I usually share the binder with all the children family pictures in the classroom I collected at the beginning of the year. You could share your family pictures, if you have. I have pictures of my great-grand-parents, cousins, nieces, pets, all people I have or had in my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can brainstorm families you know of 1,2,3…. and also groups of objects of 1,2,3,…. (2 handles on a bike, 1 door, 4 kitchen drawers,….)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and the counters<\/strong> you put in a container is an excellent practice for your child\u2019s mathematical skills. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child.
