I would recommend practicing with the number 1 on page 77 and 78 of My First School Book.

For the writing/reading process, have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily his/her name on paper/dry eraser board/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter, either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.

If you have My First School Book from Handwriting Without Tears methodology, we will use it. https://www.lwtears.com/hwt.

In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood. You can purchase them at https://www.lwtears.com or make them your self. Here is a picture: http://cdn.lwtears.com/images/uploads/1_787_large.png

In case you have started checking your child’s Readiness for the program, you might want to finish by working together and filling in pages 92-93 in My First School Book. This evaluation will show your child’s strengths and weaknesses.

Science

On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.

With temperatures getting cooler, I recommend you have a big thermometer. You can check the temperature every day with your child.

Language Arts

Just Me And My Cousin by Gina and Mercer Mayer read by a grandpa with a hidden little mouse on each page. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?

The calendar is a daily activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. You could put the paper on a vertical surface in order to let the watercolor drip down the paper like a waterfall. What fun!

For this Engineering Project, you need, (1) recyclables (toilet paper rolls, yogurt cups, cardboard, magazines,…), (2) scissors, (3) tape, (4) glue, (5) crayons/markers. Let your child tell you what he/she will build. You might need to help with scissors and tape. At the end, ask your child what he/she engineered!

Small Motor Skills

Birthday Bear Coloring Page https://twistynoodle.com/birthday-bear-coloring-page/

Present Count and Match Coloring Page https://twistynoodle.com/present-count-and-match-coloring-page/

Letters Book Coloring Page https://twistynoodle.com/letters-71-minibook/

Gross Motor Skills

Outside time with climbing, jumping, bicycling, running, walking are great ways to develop the whole child.

Here is a video to reinforce the notion “To start your letter at the top” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcAYnrh6fdw

Yassou!
