We just changed season on September 22 with the September equinox. Ask your child which season we are in (fall or autumn) and if they know the names of other seasons. Here is a simple movement for your child to remember them. Have your child make a big circle in the air with their arm. At each quarter, have your child repeat a season (fall or autumn, winter, spring and summer) and repeat the movement many times. Here is a book about fall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMryWr86FI0 After repeated viewings, your child will get the word clues from the pictures and pretend reading the book to you.

On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.

Language Arts

Be Kind by Pat Zietlow Miller and Jen Hill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6NUJ2JZz50 and The Kindness Book by Todd Parr https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFZJGIJ8fVI are wonderful books about kindness.
