I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will make the L<\/a> shape<\/strong> with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. A big line and a little line for capital L \/ a big line for Lowercase l. <\/strong>Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top and from left to right. <\/strong> (In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood.<\/strong> You can purchase them at https:\/\/www.lwtears.com<\/a> or make them your self.     During the week, have your child explore the big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter L<\/strong> (lemon, lettuce, lentils, lion, lizard, leaf, leg letter). You might want to add a picture of an apple, so that your child can say that apple does not start with L! Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter L all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Let\u2019s talk about seasons<\/strong>! We just changed season on September 22 with the September equinox<\/strong>. Ask your child which season we are in (fall or autumn) and if they know the names of other seasons. Here is a simple movement<\/strong> for your child to remember them. Have your child make a big circle in the air with their arm. At each quarter, have your child repeat a season (fall or autumn, winter, spring and summer) and repeat the movement many times. Here is a book<\/strong> about fall https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gMryWr86FI0<\/a> After repeated viewings, your child will get the word clues from the pictures and pretend reading the book to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the tune of \u201cClementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
    Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Be Kind<\/span> by Pat Zietlow Miller and Jen Hill https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=t6NUJ2JZz50<\/a> and The Kindness Book<\/span> by Todd Parr https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xFZJGIJ8fVI<\/a> are wonderful books about kindness<\/strong>. After viewing the book, help your child to retell the story and all the ways to be kind. Brainstorm with your child how your child and members of your family are kind and do 1 or more act(s) of kindness<\/strong> with your child.

    The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child.     Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For this Kindness Bracelet Project, <\/strong>you need (1) beads, and (2) pipe cleaners or pieces of yarn with a stiff end (tape). Have Your child put beads on pipe cleaners or yarn. Twist or tie ends and have you child decide to keep<\/strong> or give<\/strong> the bracelets. (Pay attention to the pattern your child is building, as we will soon learn about the mathematical concept of patternIng).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For this Mixing Colors Project<\/strong>, you need (1) droppers, (2) food coloring, (3) water, (4) plastic cup (yogurt), (5) paper towel or paper, and (5) a plastic tablecloth to protect surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Protect surface with plastic tablecloth<\/li>
    2. unroll the paper towel to cover surface<\/li>
    3. Fill cups with food coloring diluted in water (yellow, blue and red)<\/li>
    4. Have your child use droppers with diluted food coloring on paper towel.<\/li>
    5. See how colors mix!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
