You might want to add a picture of a ball, so that your child can say that ball does not start with F! Here is a book of F word pictures https://twistynoodle.com/my-letter-f-2-minibook/

Science

For this fun experiment, you need (1) bowl, (2) shaving cream, (3) red and yellow food coloring, and (4) a spray bottle with water.

Directions:
1. Put some shaving cream in the bowl with drops of food coloring on top. It is your fire!

2. Spray the “fire“ with water. What happens to the fire or shaving cream? Draw a parallel with what a real firefighter does with his water hose.

On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.

Language Arts

Let’s brainstorm with your child what a firefighter does? Here is Clifford: The Firehouse Dog by Norman Bridwell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTGiO9Ed6gQ

After viewing the book, help your child to sequence the story (happened first, then, at the end) with as many details as your child can. The last page of the book has safety rules that you can read to your child and see what applies to your home. It is always good to review once a year with your family!

As you saw with Clifford, the “STOP, DROP AND ROLL” can be lifesaving. Demonstrate to your child and have your child practice a couple of times. Put the counters in the middle and each player gets a dice. Take turn rolling the die and take the number of counters equivalent to the number of dots on the die. The game ends when there is no more counters In the middle and the player with the most counters wins!

The calendar is a daily activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition.
