I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What parts of a train do you like?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PASSENGER CAR \ud83d\ude83\/ ENGINE \ud83d\ude82\/ CABOOSE\/ FREIGHT CAR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have My First School Book <\/strong>from Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>. Have your child complete pages 25-26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A whole week activity<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter F (Face, fall, farm, fence, five, flag). You might want to add a picture of a ball, so that your child can say that ball does not start with F ! Here is a book of F word pictures https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-f-2-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter F and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For this Fun Skiddles Experiment<\/strong>, you need (1) a plate, (2) Skiddles, and (3) warm water. Have your child line Skiddles in a circle on a plate and help pour gently the warm water on the Skiddles. What happens to the colors?https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BAAr7EvqWPk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the tune of \u201cClementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freight Train<\/span> by Donald Crews https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XSGPFwXoKMU<\/a> is a book that builds vocabulary and reviews colors. After viewing the book, encourage your child to describe the different parts of a freight train and, if you have duplos\/legos available, engage your child to build the freight train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Fun Dice Game<\/strong>, each player needs 2 dice. Each player rolls the dice and counts the total number of dots. The player with the highest number wins. This game can be played as long as the players want!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today is Free Watercolor Day<\/strong> for your child! Your child just needs watercolor, water, a brush and a big piece of white construction paper. Have fun!

For Construction Paper Train Project<\/strong>, you need (1) scissors, (2) colored construction paper, (3) glue and (4) crayons\/markers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Cut squares and rectangles out of colored construction paper for car bodies, circles and strips in black construction paper for wheels and tracks;<\/li>
  2. On a piece of paper, glue all cut-outs to shape a train with cars. Your child can make the train as long as wanted and as sophisticated as wanted.
