Let\u2019s listen to his <strong>story<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SadG-XOBFpU\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SadG-XOBFpU<\/a> After listening to the story, help your child to retell the story using lots of H words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter H (hair, heart, helicopter, horse, hat.) You might want to add a picture of a kitty, so that your child can say that kitty does not start with H! Here is a book of H word pictures <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/h-is-for-house-2-minibook\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/h-is-for-house-2-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter H every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For youngsters, here is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I am a Leaf<\/span> by Jean Marzollo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bH9NKpDvLCg\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bH9NKpDvLCg<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more advanced reading about leaves, here is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Autumn Leaves<\/span> by Kevin Robbins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2RCHJoTJSTQ\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2RCHJoTJSTQ<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After viewing one of the books, encourage your child to go on a <strong>hunt for leaves<\/strong> and try to find many different colored and shaped leaves that you will use in math and art projects. In the classroom, I would have rakes for children to use and make leaves\u2019 piles. Children love to jump in, kick and crush leaves!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lucille Colandro wrote a funny series of books. Here is a silly repetitive book: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YwzjH_iJrTo\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YwzjH_iJrTo<\/a> After viewing the book, help your child to remember the different things the old lady swallowed. She stuffed the shirt with leaves. Brainstorm with your child what you can do with leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dLeaves, leaves, everywhere\u201d <strong>Song and Movement <\/strong>(your child needs a leaf)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leaves, leaves, everywhere! Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/september-calendar-setbr4-pages\/september-calendar-set-3\"> https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/october-calendar-setbr4-pages\/october-calendar-set-3<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daily counting of <strong>tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> <strong>How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Leaf Print Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) leaves, (2) paint (red, orange, green, brown), (3) paint brush, and (4) white construction paper. Have your child paint leaves the color of choice and press the leaves on paper to make a print. Your child can be very creative!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Rubbing Leaves Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) leaves, (2) crayons\/pencils, and (3) thin printing paper. Have your child put leaves under the thin printing paper, push the paper down and color\/rub the paper with pencils\/crayons. Your child will discover the outline of leaves while coloring!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Wreath of Leaves Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) big paper plate, (2) glue, (3) scissors  and (4) leaves. Cut the inside of the big paper plate, leaving a thick rim around. Have your child glue leaves around the rim.
