For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s listen in the Letterland Story Corner, Clever Cat and the Cake<\/span> https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wX9S_iM6TOg<\/a> After listening to the story, help your child to retell the story using lots of C words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A whole week activity<\/strong>:
For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter C (cake, car, cat, candle, cap, castle, clean, clever, climb, clock, clothes, cold, color, come, cook, count, cross, cuddle, cup, custard, cut.) You might want to add a picture of a unicorn, so that your child can say that unicorn does not start with C! Here is a book of C word pictures: https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-c-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter C every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Children hear people about elections. Here are three books explaining the process: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After viewing a book, review how adults vote and answer your child\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many patriotic songs are available and the Pledge of Allegiance is said in every public school https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hQ0C1aOpO4Q<\/a> Jack Hartmann also wrote a song \u201cAmerica to Me\u201d https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oex3j_9AhGA<\/a> (your child can repeat the lyrics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With colored blocks<\/strong>, your child can make different patterns<\/strong>. Make patterns (ABAB, ABCABC, ABBA, ABBCABBC,….), have your child copy them, make his or her own, and decide which pattern is the best. With more children, take a vote!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November is here! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Letter C Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) white construction paper, (2) C cut-out and 3 little triangles in black construction paper https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/letter-c-cutting-practice-coloring-page\/<\/a>, (3) 2 googly eyes, (4) scissors, (5) glue, (6) light brown pipe-cleaner, (7) black marker, and (8) either brown pompons or brown construction paper circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Cut light brown pipe cleaners in small pieces for cat\u2019s whiskers.<\/li>
  2. Take sheet of white construction paper and glue eyes, 2 triangles for cat\u2019s hears and 1 for cat\u2019s nose, and brown pompoms\/circles.<\/li>
  3. Draw cat\u2019s mouth with black marker.<\/li>
