(Blow kisses) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>What kind of birds have you seen?<br>BLUEBIRDS \/ RED CARDINALS \/ BLACK CROWS \/ BROWN HAWKS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday, we started with <strong>Oscar Orange<\/strong> from <strong>Letterland<\/strong> and listen to the song: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ei6g3W__BdY\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Ei6g3W__BdY<\/a> After listening, your child traced a capital O and a lower case o, starting at the top (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U<\/a>). Let\u2019s listen in the Letterland Story Corner, <strong>Oscar Orange at the Docks<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1wE5PDKLDeQ\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1wE5PDKLDeQ<\/a> After listening to the story, help your child to retell the story using lots of O words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter O (object, October, octopus, odd, off, of, or, office, often, on, opposite, orange, ostrich, otter.) You might want to add a picture of a cat, so that your child can say that cat does not start with O! Here is a book of O word pictures: <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-oo-book-5-minibook\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-oo-book-5-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter O every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eagles<\/strong> have a wide <strong>wingspan<\/strong> of about <strong>5.9 to 7.5 feet<\/strong>. To show your child the wingspan, you can: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Draw an eagle with a wingspan of 6 or 7 feet on a large piece of paper. I drew it in the classroom with children helping me for the wing size with wooden rulers. I hung the drawing on the classroom wall. Each child stood in front of the drawing with arms open wide and I had a body mirror for the child to see and compare himself or herself to a real eagle.  A phone with a camera would work too.<\/li><li>Have you or your child stand with arms open wide and measure from one hand to another (I have about 5 feet + 2 rulers = 7 feet) Give you or your child wooden rulers to hold by both hands with arms open wide and measure the distance from one end of a ruler to the other. Have a bed sheet to cover the span, arms and rulers, for a special effect. Have a body mirror or a phone\/camera to show you or your child. Is it very big?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories about eagles are hard to find. Eagles are a symbol of America and you can find an eagle on money, a quarter and dollar bill, and on the American Seal. Here are two stories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Eagle and the Swallow<\/span> from the Fables of Aesop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sNkOfQRoeOE\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sNkOfQRoeOE<\/a> It is better to listen to the story.<\/li><li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That\u2019s Mine!<\/span> By Mitchel van Zeveren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=S9Qg4p33uSI\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=S9Qg4p33uSI<\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After listening or viewing a book, help your child sequence the story: what happened first, next,&#8230; and at the end. Both stories have a surprised endings. Encourage your child to change the endings and come up with a different one. Have your child:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Line up, one in front of another, objects from one tip of an eagle wing to the other tip on the paper drawn eagle, or <\/li><li>Line up objects alongside a tape measure\/measured distance of 6 to 7 feet.<\/li><li>How many blocks\/legos in length?<\/li><li>Your child can extend the learning by measuring other things inside or outside your home.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>November is here! The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/november-calendar-setbr4-pages\/november-calendar-set-2\">https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/november-calendar-setbr4-pages\/november-calendar-set-2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daily counting of <strong>tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> <strong>How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Paper Bag Eagle Puppet Project<\/strong>, you need (1) brown paper bag, (2) brown, white and orange construction paper, (3) scissors, (4) glue, and (5) 2 googly eyes\/marker to draw eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cut a white construction paper rectangle to glue to the bottom of paper bag.<\/li><li>Cut orange construction paper triangle for eagle\u2019s beak, a crest and 2 feet (see picture)<\/li><li>Cut 2 brown construction paper wings (see picture)<\/li><li>Glue eyes (or draw them with marker), beak, crest, feet and wings on brown paper bag.<\/li><li>Picture <a href=\"http:\/\/learncreatelove.com\/paper-bag-craft-eagle-puppet\/\">http:\/\/learncreatelove.com\/paper-bag-craft-eagle-puppet\/<\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <strong>Eagle Hand Print Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) sheet of blue construction paper, (2) brown, white and yellow paint with brush, and (3) black marker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Take blue  construction paper as the base.<\/li><li>paint your child\u2019s hands with brush and brown paint.<\/li><li>Press your child\u2019s both hands on blue paper, hand prints touching at the palm with thumbs down. Hand palms are the eagle\u2019s body, thumbs are the eagle\u2019s legs, and fingers are the eagle\u2019s wings.<\/li><li>Wash hands.
