My favorite Closing Song<\/strong> sung on \u201cTwinkle, Twinkle Little Star\u201d tune with movement:<\/strong>   Twinkle, twinkle little stars! Time is over and we say goodbye. (Open and close hands)

For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making Letter Z Shape:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 1 big line and 2 little lines for capital Z\/ 3 little lines for Lowercase z<\/strong>. Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top, going straight across, going diagonally down, and straight across. In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood.<\/strong> You can purchase them at https:\/\/www.lwtears.com<\/a> or make them your self.   2. Wet-Dry-Try on small chalkboard<\/strong> (Handwriting Without Tears) https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q6p4LUEGbwM<\/a><\/li>
  3. Play dough<\/strong> with small chalkboard (recipe: https:\/\/www.thebestideasforkids.com\/playdough-recipe\/<\/a>) or you can purchase the Roll-A-Dough<\/strong> Set from Handwriting without Tears https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=spjVLDXDixI<\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    A whole week activity<\/strong>:
    For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that have the letter Z (zebra, zero, zip, zoo, zoom, crazy, dizzy, fizzy, lazy, puzzle). You might want to add a picture of yarn, so that your child can say Yarn does not start with Z!     Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    On your next nature walk<\/strong>, encourage your child to look for flowers and trees and make a nature journal entry with your child\u2019s drawing, that you can label. Common flowers or trees in bloom in my area are (https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/forests\/Pages\/MarylandersPlantTrees\/Recommended-Tree-List.aspx<\/a>):
    1. Daffodils 
    2. Hyacinths
    3.Forsythias
    4. Cherry trees
    5.Crabapple trees
    6.Magnolia trees
    You might want to make a bouquet and put it in a vase with your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
    Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Your child can see a rainbow of colors outside!

    After viewing a book, help your child sequence<\/strong> the story: what happened first, next,… at the end. Brainstorm with your child what you learned about flowers and their colors. Your child can take a survey of your family members\u2019 favorite colors and flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.
    After the reading, ask your child to tell you his\/her favorite color(s) and tell your child that he\/she will do an art project with your child\u2019s hands and favorite color(s).

    For a Flower Memory Game<\/strong>, draw\/print pairs of flowers (about 5) on a grid and cut all flower squares. Place all flower squares face down and have you and your child take turn turning over only two squares at the time. The winner is the player turning over 2 flower squares that are identical and the game ends when there are no more cards unturned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Spring is in the air in March! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like. https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/march-calendar-set\/march-calendar-set-4<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    There are 2 possible art projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A. For the Hand Print Art Project,<\/strong> you need (1) tempera paint with brush and (2) paper. 
    Directions:
    1. Draw a small circle in the middle of a piece of paper.
    2. Paint your child\u2019s hands with different color temper paint (need to wash hand 2-3 times).
    3. Print your child\u2019s hands with the palms touching the circle line.
    4. with thumb in paint paint the inside of the circle. What a beautiful colorful flower!

    B. For the Bleeding Color Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) piece of paper towel, (2) scissors, (3) tray, (4) color markers, (5) spray bottle filled with water, and (6) glue.
    Directions:
    1. Put the paper underneath the paper towel on the tray.
    2. Color paper towel with markers.
    3. Once done, spray the paper towel with water until nicely wet. The marker lines will spread in all directions with water and bleed on the paper.
    4. once dry, add details to your flower like stem and leaves with color markers. What a colorful design!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
