(Blow kisses) &nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark. &nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Which word starts with the letter Z?<\/strong><br><strong>ZEBRA \ud83e\udd93\/ YARN \ud83e\uddf6\/ ZERO \/ PUZZLE \ud83e\udde9 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child started with <strong>Zig Zag Zebra Letterland<\/strong> and listened to the song: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eQipsb-DzT4\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eQipsb-DzT4<\/a> (Zig Zag Zebra is very shy, saying \u201czzzz&#8230;\u201d while zipping by. Zebras often seem to be shy. But, we\u2019ll never really know why) After listening to the song, your child traced a capital Z and a lower case z, starting at the top (song &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U<\/a>), do a straight horizontal line, do a diagonal line down, and a straight horizontal line<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CXjKhVqswMM\">.<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qDU_jJLOoeo\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qDU_jJLOoeo<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, let\u2019s listen to the story from the Letterland Corner: <strong>Zig Zag Zebra and the Buzz<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2BDTyuLiEhA\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2BDTyuLiEhA<\/a> After listening to the story, help your child retell the story using lots of Z words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that have the letter Z (zebra, zero, zip, zoo, zoom, crazy, dizzy, fizzy, lazy, puzzle). You might want to add a picture of yarn, so that your child can say Yarn does not start with Z! Here is a book of Z word pictures: <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-z-minibook\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-z-minibook\/<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/t.asp?t=http:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/images\/alpha\/ap1\/z.gif\">https:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/t.asp?t=http:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/images\/alpha\/ap1\/z.gif<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter Z every day and let your child explore the container all through the week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For Planting Seeds Science Project<\/strong>, you will need (1) Seeds (uncooked bean if you have), (2) ziplock bag, (3) 2 cotton balls, (4) water, (5) empty yogurt cup with a hole at the bottom to drain excess water, (6) potting soil, and (7) tape.<br>We will try to have seeds grow\/germinate\/sprout in <strong>2 different ways<\/strong>:    <br>1. Have your child put some potting soil in the yogurt cup, press a seed in the soil, put it in a sunny spot and water it every day.     <br>2. Have your child wet the 2 cotton balls, put them around the seed, put all in a ziplock bag, close the bag and tape it on a sunny window.  <br>Encourage your child to make a drawing in their nature journal, if your child has one. Observe with your child and make predictions. Which seed will germinate first?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Review the <strong>Circle of Season with Movement<\/strong> learned on Spring Signs &#8211; Letter Z (1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language Arts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Literature<\/strong>:    <br>Before reading a book, start a conversation with your child: where do seeds come from? Where do they go? Brainstorm with your child what you learned about seeds and flowers (flowers have roots, petal, stem and leaves). Decide which seeds you and your child would like to plant in a garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple <strong>story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. (Stand on tiptoes and stand tall)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Talk to your child about <strong>small and tall<\/strong>, how plants grow and have different sizes. Give your child a <strong>ruler<\/strong>, show your child how to read the numbers and invite your child to measure things. Play a game with your child on who can find the tallest thing in the house or the smallest thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring is in the air in March! The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Unfold the paper and look at the mirrored image painted on the paper and let dry.   <br>4. Add a stem, petals and roots with paint or color crayon.   <br>5.
