(Blow kisses) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>What do you need for a snowman?       <br>CARROT \ud83e\udd55\/ PIG \ud83d\udc37\/ HAT \ud83c\udfa9\/ ROCK \ud83e\udea8\/ CAR \ud83d\ude97 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Making Letter P Shape:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-1c004b3f-4348-41eb-9f7a-27a039f3f094\"><li><strong>2 big lines, 1 big curve for capital P\/1 big line and 1 little curve for Lowercase p<\/strong>. Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top, going down and jump back up. You might want to add a picture of a dog, so that your child can say Dog that does not start with P! Here is a book of P word pictures: <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-p-minibook\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-p-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter P every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What is <strong>dissolving<\/strong>? What is the difference between dissolving and melting? Melting is a change of one material (usually heat is applied) from solid to liquid, but dissolving is the reaction when two materials are mixed. Your child observed melting on day 2 and now will observe dissolving. For this <strong>fun science experiment<\/strong>, you need <strong>cornstarch packing peanuts<\/strong>, a bowl filled with water. Ask your child what will happen when you put cornstarch packing peanuts in water? Then, have your child put the cornstarch peanuts in the bowl of water, hold peanuts in water and explain what is happening.<br><br>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. The major theme is <strong>snowman<\/strong>. Brainstorm with your child what you and your child can do  or did previously to build a snowman!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m a Little Snowman\u201d <strong>Song<\/strong> (\u201cI\u2019m a Little Teapot\u201d tune)    <br>I\u2019m a little snowman, short and fat.     <br>Here is my broomstick. Snowmen, snowmen, that\u2019s a charm!\u201d)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Let\u2019s review <strong>geometrical shapes<\/strong> with fun shaving cream! It will perfume your space nicely too. For playing with <strong>shaving cream<\/strong>, you might want to use a plastic tablecloth to protect your table surface. At first, encourage your child to play with shaving cream and to make any design your child wants. It will be amazingly creative! Then, introduce shapes (circle, square, triangle, &#8230;.) by drawing one and engage your child to copy you. For advanced learner, you can tell your child a shape and challenge your child to draw as fast as you. Some children love competition!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy New Year! January just started. The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/january-calendar-set\/january-calendar-set-2\">https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/january-calendar-set\/january-calendar-set-2<\/a> Daily counting of <strong>tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> <strong>How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <strong>Potato Masher Snowman Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) light blue, orange and black construction paper, (2) white tempera paint with brush on a small paper plate, (3) potato masher (circle one), (4) small buttons, (5) glue, (6) scissors and (7) Q-tips.      <br>Directions:     <br>1. Cut a small triangle out of orange construction paper. It is the snowman\u2019s nose.<br>2. Cut a hat and scarf out of black construction paper.     <br>3. Take a sheet of blue construction paper and paint a blanket of snow with white tempera paint and brush at the bottom of the sheet.    <br>4. Dip potato masher in white paint and print on sheet three circles on top of each other. It is the body of your snowman.   <br>5.  Dip tip of Q-tip in white paint and dot around the painted snowman for snowflakes.<br>6. Once dry, glue paper hat, scarf, nose and small button eyes, and coat buttons on snowman.   <br>7. For a more 3-D effect, glue outstretched cotton balls under snowman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Snowman\u2019 s Globe Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) grey and blue construction paper, (2) scissors, (3) hot glue gun (adult only), (4) dessert clear plate, (5) glue, (6) foam\/paper snowmen,\/evergreens\/snowflakes, and (7) fake snow\/tiny crumbled pieces of tissue paper.     <br>Directions:     <br>1. Cut a circle in blue construction paper the size of the clear dessert plate.   <br>2. Cut a large triangle out of grey construction paper and round the edges with scissors.    <br>3. Glue grey triangle at the bottom of blue circle.    <br>4. Glue snowmen, evergreens and snowflakes on blue circle.    <br>5. Drop fake snow\/tissue paper on blue circle.   <br>6. Hot glue the clear dessert plate upside down on blue circle.    <br>7.
