For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make Letter B Shape: <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 1 big line, 2 little curves for capital B\/1 big line and 1 little curve for Lowercase b<\/strong>. Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top, going down, jump back up, and go around down.     A whole week activity<\/strong>:
    For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter B (baby, bad, balance, ball, bar, beautiful, bed, bee, big, bird, birthday,biscuit, blue, boat, bounce, bread, breakfast, bridge, brown, bubble, bun, bus, butter, butterfly.) You might want to add a picture of a pig, so that your child can say Dog that does not start with B!     Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For the Balloons Science Experiment<\/strong>, you need (1) 2 clear water glasses, (2) 2 water balloons (red and blue), (3) cold water, and hot water (adult only). What happens if you put lightly inflated water balloons on hot and cold water?
    Directions:
    1. Blow some air in both balloons.
    2. Pour cold water in 1 clear glass and hot water in another clear glass (adult only).
    3. Put blue lightly inflated balloon on cold water. What happens to the balloon?
    4. Put red lightly inflated balloon on hot water. What happens to the balloon?
    The air in the balloon on hot water expands and contracts on cold water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
    Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After viewing a book, help your child sequence the story<\/strong>: what happened first, next,… at the end. The major theme is pair of socks and rhymes. Brainstorm with your child what other pieces of clothing come in pairs (earrings, earmuffs, shoes, mittens, …) and which word rhymes with socks (advanced).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A Math Activity with socks<\/strong>: Put all your child\u2019s socks together and encourage you child to put 2 socks together that are the same or make pairs<\/strong> and then count the pairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Letter B Memory Game<\/strong> https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/letter-b-memory-game-coloring-page\/<\/a> After cutting, put cards face down and encourage your child to take 2 cards that make a pair!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    January just started. The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like.

    Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?<\/strong> How many more (count with fingers)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For the Pair of Socks Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) construction paper, (2) scissors, and (3) markers\/paint\/color tape\/strips of color construction paper.
    Directions:
    1. Fold sheet of construction paper into two and draw\/cut shape of sock.
    2. Open up sheet of construction paper to see socks back to back.
    3. Design a pattern going across both socks with tape\/markers\/paint\/strips of construction paper on both sides of construction paper.
    4. Cut and separate both socks. You have got a pair!

    For the Fox in Socks Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) small paper plate, (2) orange tempera paint with brush, (3) scissors, (4) black marker, (5) stapler, (6) brown pompom, (7) googly eyes, (8) glue, and thin strips of brown construction paper.
    Directions:
    1. Cut 2 triangles out of small paper plate and staple to top as fox\u2019s ears.
    2. Paint the paper plate with orange tempera paint and brush.
    3. Once dry, glue brown strips for whiskers and on top pompom for nose, and googly eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you would like to transform the project into a mask<\/strong>, use a big paper plate, cut 2 holes for eyes and glue\/staple a large popsicle stick at the bottom for your child to hold the mask.
