For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which words start with the letter A?
APPLE \ud83c\udf4e\/ KITE \ud83e\ude81\/ ANT \ud83d\udc1c\/ RABBIT \ud83d\udc07 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter A is fairly easy to write starting at the top, going down, jumping back up, going down, and a line across. But the focus is on the two sounds. There are the short \/A\/<\/strong> sound like in add, adventure and the long \/A\/ <\/strong>sound like acorn, age, April and apron. It is important to point it out. A whole week activity<\/strong>:
For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter A (add, address, adventure, alligator, alphabet, ambulance, an, and, animal, ant, apple, arrow, as, at, avenue, axe, apron, April, age, acorn). Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter A every day and let your child explore the container all through the week. More K words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Night and Day are good friends<\/strong>. They both follow and compliment each other. Here is an science activity about what you see: https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/day-or-night-coloring-page\/<\/a> Brainstorm with your child which animals you and your child see during the day or during the night. Complete the science activity by writing names of animals. (You can also complete it with what you can see and what activity you do during the day or at night.) The poem called \u201cDay and Night\u201d can help you:

Animals hunt during the night.
Animals hide during the day.
what kind of animals are they? (Nocturnal: mouse, badger, mole, skunk, owl, toad)

On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After viewing a book, help your child sequence<\/strong> the story: what happened first, next,… at the end. Brainstorm with your child what it means to be a friend, to have friends, and who is a friend\/are friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day and Night are also considered opposites! <\/strong>During you study of letter A, your child will sort opposites. Let\u2019s do a sort between two opposites: hot and cold. https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/hot-or-cold-5-coloring-page\/<\/a> Brainstorm further with your child more things hot or cold.

February is here to stay! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and<\/a> pattern recognition. Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Letterland Letter A for Alligator Art Project<\/strong>, you need blue, white and green construction paper, (2) A template https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-a-3-coloring-page\/<\/a>, (3) glue, (4) scissors, and (5) 2 googly eyes.
Directions:
1. Cut template out of green construction paper for alligator\u2019s body.
2. Cut little triangles out of white construction paper for teeth.
3. Cut 2 small circles out of green construction paper for eyes.
4. Glue all pieces together on blue construction paper and googly eyes on top of small green circles.
5. If you have a Letterland Binder, put your craft inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Our Friendship is Blooming Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) white construction paper, (2) tempera paint and brush, and (3) black marker.
Directions:
1. Paint with brush your child\u2019s hand and others\u2019 hand for heads of flowers.
2. Print on white construction paper.
3. Paint flowers\u2019 stems, leaves and grass with green tempera paint.
4. Paint any other detail with tempera paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
