For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have My First School Book <\/strong>from Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>. Have your child complete pages 54 and 55<\/strong>. Your child can also practice writing number 4 on page 81.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A whole week activity<\/strong>:
For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter A (add, address, adventure, alligator, alphabet, ambulance, an, and, animal, ant, apple, arrow, as, at, avenue, axe,apron, April, age, acorn). You might want to add a picture of a kite, so that your child can say kite does not start with A! Here is a book of A word pictures: https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-a-minibook\/<\/a>. Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter A every day and let your child explore the container all through the week. Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Walking Colored Water Experiment<\/strong>, you need (1) small clear plastic\/glass cups, (2) paper towel, (3) water, and (4) food coloring. What happens when you dip paper towel strips in colored water?
Directions:
1. Fill each cup with water and put 3 drops of different food coloring in each cup.
2. Cut strips of paper towel, line up cups and put 1 end of paper towel strip in a cup and the other end in another cup to form a chain.
3. Observe and explain what happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After viewing a book, help your child sequence<\/strong> the story: what happened first, next,… at the end. Brainstorm with your child what mail is all about: what do you mail, to whom do you mail a letter, how do you mail a letter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mailman Poem<\/strong>
See the mailman dressed in blue.
Will he bring a letter to you?
He works when it rains.
He works when it snows.
He even work when the wind blows!
Change the \u201cmailman\u201d with \u201cmail carrier\u201d and the \u201che\u201d into \u201cshe\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

February is here to stay! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Free Watercolor Painting!<\/strong> Your child just need paper, watercolor, and a huge imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Making New Paper from Old Paper<\/strong>, you need (1) all left-over construction paper from projects or magazines, (2) blender, (3) water, (4) seeds (flowers or veggies), (5) small window screen (any screen), (6) plastic tub, (7) dish towels.
Directions:
1. Tear pieces of paper about 2 inches in size, and put it in the blender with water until it covers the mixture. Blend at low speed first, then at high speed until you get a smooth pulp. Add seeds during last slow blending for texture and as a present to plant.
2. Put window screen on top of plastic tub and spread the pulp on window screen thinly and evenly to form a layer. The excess water will drain in the tub.
3. Lay a dish towel in the pulp and press slightly down to push water down in the tub.
4. Remove wet towel and put a dry one on top.
5. Put your hand on it and flip it over a surface that can be wet. I use also a pizza peel.
6. Let it dry. The drying process depends on the thickness of pulp layer.
7. Once dry, your paper is ready to be cut!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Paper Mailbox Art Project,<\/strong> you need (1) shoe box or any box, (2) red and pink tempera paint with brush, (3) red and pink construction paper (other colors too), (4) scissors, (5) glue, (6) heart stickers, (7) any decoration.
Directions:
1. Cut a slot in the box.
2. Paint the box with red or pink tempera paint or cover it with pink or red construction paper.
3. Cut hearts of all shapes out of red and pink construction paper.
4. Glue construction paper hearts, stickers and any other decorations on box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
