(Blow kisses) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Do you celebrate the Lunar New Year?   <br>YES \/ NO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have <strong>My First School Book <\/strong>from <strong>Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt\">https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>. Have your child complete <strong>pages 56, 57, 58 and 59<\/strong>. Your child can also <strong>practice writing number 5 on page 83. Review with page 82.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter M (magnet, mouse, man, mat, me, meet, melon, metal, milk, miss, mix, monkey, monster, morning, most, mug, mummy, mushroom, my). You might want to add a picture of an Apple, so that your child can say apple does not start with M! Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter M every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Shiny Clean Penny Science Experiment<\/strong>, you need (1) pennies, (2) paper towel, (3) cup, and (4) vinegar.  What happens to dirty pennies in vinegar?<br>Directions:   <br>1. Pour vinegar in a cup and add dirty pennies. Let all soak for an hour.  <br>2. Take one penny at the time from the cup with vinegar and rub it with paper towel.   <br>3. Observe and explain. Are pennies shiny?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Money sorting Math Activity<\/strong>, you need a handful of various coins. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 4 columns titled penny, nickel, dime and quarter. Encourage your child to sort the coins in the columns and make tallies. As a <strong>supplemental game<\/strong> called <strong>Race to 10 (20 for advanced)<\/strong> with a die (dice for advanced), have each player roll the die and take a number of pennies from a penny stack corresponding to the number of dots on the die (dice). The winner is the first player getting 10 pennies (20 for advanced).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Independent Math Practice<\/strong>:   <br>1. The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/february-calendar-setbr-4-pages\/february-calendar-set-3\">https:\/\/www.themailbox.com\/magazines\/february-calendar-setbr-4-pages\/february-calendar-set-3<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daily counting of <strong>tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <strong>Paper Lantern Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) red construction paper, (2) scissors, (3) tape, and (4) red ribbon.   <br>Directions:    <br>1. Fold red sheet into 2 lengthwise.    <br>2. Hold paper with fold toward you and cut straight line 3\/4 way.   <br>3. Unfold paper and attach both bottom and top ends together.  <br>3. Paint both backs of paper plate with red paint.   <br>2. Once dry, staple paper plates together with tongue depressor at the bottom.  <br>3. Hole punch a hole on each side.  <br>4. Attach a piece of red ribbon to each hole with a pearl at the end.  <br>5. Have fun twisting the drum to have pearls hit the painted paper plates.   <br>6.
