(Blow kisses) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Which word starts with the letter N?    <br>MONKEY \ud83d\udc12 \/ NIGHT \ud83c\udf19   \/ DOG \ud83d\udc15 \/ PIG \ud83d\udc16 \/ NURSE<\/strong> \ud83d\udc69\u200d\u2695\ufe0f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child started with <strong>Noisy Nick <\/strong>from <strong>Letterland<\/strong> and listened to the song: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KdcVt2xJS5A\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KdcVt2xJS5A<\/a> After listening to the song, your child traced a capital N and a lower case n,  starting at the top (song &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U<\/a>), do a line down, jump back up,  do a diagonal line down, do a straight line up<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CXjKhVqswMM\">.<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=I8q0UAT1NbE\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=I8q0UAT1NbE<\/a> Now, let\u2019s listen to the story from the Letterland Corner: <strong>Noisy Nick in the Night<\/strong>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LlftOpQu83A\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LlftOpQu83A<\/a> After listening to the story, help your child retell the story using lots of N words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter N (nails, name, nap, near, neck, need, needle, nest net, never, new, next, nice, night, nine, no, noise, nose, not, now, number, nurse, nursery, nuts). You might want to add a picture of an Mouse, so that your child can say mouse does not start with N! Whether you have a pet or not (neighbor\u2019s), encourage your child to observe a pet with these questions:   <br>1. what does it eat?   <br>2. Where does it live?   <br>3. How does it move?  <br>4. When is it awake?  <br>5. Why is it a pet?   <br>To conclude, encourage your child to draw the pet using paper and crayons\/markers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Spring is around the corner, you and your child can already <strong>grow<\/strong> <strong>grass<\/strong>. For this science activity, you need (1) cup, (2) soil, (3) grass seeds, and (4) watering can with water. What will happen to the grass seeds?<br>Directions:   <br>1. put soil in cup and push in grass seeds.  <br>2. water cup with soil and grass seeds with a little water every other day and observe grass seeds grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. Brainstorm with your child which pet do you have or would like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple <strong>story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Have you already played with a <strong>geo-board with rubber bands<\/strong>? Instead you can make your own (adult only). For creating a geo-board, you need (1) hammer, (2) 25 flat head nails, (3) a wood board, and (5) rubber bands. Nail a 5&#215;5 nail square and show your child how to stretch a rubber band over the nails. Stretch a rubber band over the 5&#215;5 square first, over 2&#215;5 rectangle, and then different types of shapes (triangle, pentagon, trapezoid,&#8230;) Encourage your child to stretch rubber bands and make shapes too! Your child can also further practice counting the number of nails inside a shape.<br><br>February is here to stay! The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Letterland Letter N for Number Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) template <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-n-2-coloring-page\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/my-letter-n-2-coloring-page\/<\/a>, (2) blue, black, yellow construction paper, (3) scissors, (4) glue, (5) black marker.   <br>Directions:     <br>1. Cut template out of blue construction paper.   <br>2. Glue template on a sheet of black construction paper.  <br>3. Cut stars and a sliver of moon out of yellow construction paper and glue on paper N with heading  \u201cN for Night\u201d.  <br>4. As an <strong>alternative<\/strong>, glue elbow macaronis with heading \u201cN for Noodles\u201d or a large strip of brown construction paper with 2 googly eyes with heading \u201cN for Ninjas\u201d, or small strips of brown construction paper together with an white construction paper oval with heading \u201cN for Nest\u201d or squares of paper with numbers written on them with heading \u201cN for Numbers\u201d, or strips of newspaper with heading \u201cN for Newspaper\u201d.<br>5. if you have a Letterland binder, insert this art project in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>N for Necklace Project<\/strong>, you need (1) yarn, (2) any type of beads (number beads if needed), (3) scissors, and (4) tape. You can also use a plastic <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">needle<\/span> too! Make one end of yarn stiff with tape and start beading.
