For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make Letter V Shape:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 2 big lines for capital V\/ 2 little lines for Lowercase v<\/strong>. Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top, going diagonally down, and then back up diagonally. (In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood.<\/strong> You can purchase them at https:\/\/www.lwtears.com<\/a> or make them your self.     A whole week activity<\/strong>:
    For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter V (valley, van, vanilla, vanish, vase, vegetables, velvet, very, vest, vet, village, violets, violin, visit, visitor, voice, volcano, vole). You might want to add a picture of an Ninja, so that your child can say Ninja does not start with V!     Kitchen Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Have you heard of Moose Juice or Goose Juice<\/strong>? Brainstorm with your child a funny juice name that you will make. For a simple juice recipe, you need (1) lemons or oranges, (2) water or seltzer water, (3) sugar, (4) 1 quart pitcher, (5) manual juicer, (6) spoon, and (7) cups.
    Directions:
    1. Use manual juicer to squeeze 1 cup of juice from 2-6 lemons or oranges and pour it in pitcher.
    2. Add 1 cup of sugar and water to fill the pitcher.
    3. Mix with spoon and pour in cups. Enjoy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
    Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Map Reading and Making is fun!<\/strong> Show a paper or virtual map of your neighborhood, town,… and point with a finger the way to different places your family goes regularly. Be sure to give access to a map wherever you go on foot, by bike or with a car. As an activity, brainstorm with your child the roads and details around your home and encourage your child to draw them on a large piece of paper with crayons\/markers with you. For further exploration<\/strong>, take your drawn map with you on trips that your child can expand with more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    February is here to stay! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child.     Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    For the Hot Air Balloon Picture Frame Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) small white paper plate, (2) a trapezoid out of blue construction paper, (3) 2 thin strips of white construction paper or 2 white pipe cleaners or 2 white straws, (4) tape or glue, (5) little squares of tissue paper, (6) a picture of your child, and (7) marker.
    Directions:
    1. Glue little squares of tissue paper (any color) on small paper plate for balloon.
    2. Attach construction paper trapezoid or basket to small paper plate with paper strips, pipe cleaners or straws using tape or glue.
    3. Tape your child\u2019s picture between basket and balloon.
    4. Label: \u201cAll the places I\u2019ll go!\u201d on basket with marker.
