What a wonderful bunch you are! (Blow kisses) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) <strong>daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the <strong>question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Which Dr. Seuss book is your favorite?    <br>CAT IN THE HAT \/ HOP ON POP \/ FOX IN SOCKS \/ GREEN EGGS AND HAM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have <strong>My First School Book <\/strong>from <strong>Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt\">https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>. Have your child complete <strong>pages 64 and 65<\/strong>. Your child can also <strong>practice writing number 7 on page 85.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A whole week activity<\/strong>:<br>For the <strong>phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter V (valley, van, vanilla, vanish, vase, vegetables, velvet, very, vest, vet, village, violets, violin, visit, visitor, voice, volcano, vole). You might want to add a picture of an Ninja, so that your child can say Ninja does not start with V! Here is a book of V word pictures: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/t.asp?t=http:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/images\/alpha\/ap1\/v.gif\">https:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/t.asp?t=http:\/\/www.first-school.ws\/images\/alpha\/ap1\/v.gif<\/a> and Letter V Book <a href=\"https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/letter-v-v-book-minibook\/\">https:\/\/twistynoodle.com\/letter-v-v-book-minibook\/<\/a> Also, you can add new objects\/pictures starting with the letter V every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kitchen Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s make <strong>Popcorn Pop<\/strong>! There are many ways to make popcorn on stove top, microwave,&#8230;. I usually heat 2 tablespoons of oil, drop 1\/2 cup of corn kernels and cover your pot. Kernels will start popping fast. Once done dropping, pour popcorn in large bowl with 2-3 tablespoons of butter. For more adventurous flavors, divide popcorns covered with butter in 3 smaller bowls and add:    <br>1. Chocolate flavor: 1-2 tablespoons of chocolate powder.   <br>2. Pizza flavor: 1 tablespoon of dried Parmesan cheese and 1 tablespoons of dried Italian seasoning.    <br>3. Cinnamon flavor: 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Enjoy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: <strong>what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).<br>Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. By Dr. Seuss (advanced) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B-i1E1UbwVI\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B-i1E1UbwVI<\/a><br>3. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Sleepbook<\/span> by Dr. Seuss (advanced) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9tHN1Sk9eU0\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9tHN1Sk9eU0<\/a>.  <br>4. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Lorax<\/span> by Dr. Seuss (very advanced) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After viewing a book, brainstorm with your child the rhymes in the story and help your child <strong>sequence<\/strong> the story: what happened first, next,&#8230; at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple <strong>story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Independent Shape Tracing Practice<\/strong>:      <br>If you have <strong>My First School Book <\/strong>from <strong>Handwriting Without Tears<\/strong> methodology <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt\">https:\/\/www.lwtears.com\/hwt<\/a>. Have your child complete <strong>pages 62 and 63<\/strong>.<br><br><strong>Patterning with Dr. Seuss<\/strong>! For this activity, you need a large lego base and same size lego pieces in white, red or blue. Take your lego base and start building a color pattern at the top: red, white, red, white,&#8230; and have your child finish the pattern line. Then start a new pattern below: red, white, white, red and have your child finish the pattern. Continue all the way down the lego base with each line having a different pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>February is here to stay! The <strong>calendar<\/strong> is a <strong>daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: <strong>which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Free Watercolor Painting!<\/strong> Your child just need paper, watercolor, water and a huge imagination!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Horton Hears a Who Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) big white paper plate, (2) grey tempera paint, (3) sponge, (4) scissors, (5) glue, (6) green pipe cleaner, (7) pink pompom, and (8) 2 googly eyes.   <br>Directions:     <br>1. Cut 2 sections of the paper plate rim on opposite sides for elephant face.   <br>2. Glue only 1 section in the middle of plate for elephant\u2019s trunk.   <br>3. Paint all with sponge and grey tempera paint.   <br>4. once dry, glue 2 googly eyes on top of trunk.   <br>5.
