For the writing\/reading process,<\/strong> have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily<\/strong> his\/her name on paper\/dry eraser board\/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw an emoji \ud83d\ude42) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in capital\/uppercase and the rest in lowercase. If your child is starting to write on paper, you can write your child\u2019s name with a highlighter and your child can use a crayon to trace it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day<\/strong> so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make Letter W Shape:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 4 big lines for capital W\/ 4 little lines for Lowercase w<\/strong>. Your child use a finger to trace the letter starting at the top, going diagonally down, and then back up diagonally, then down diagonally and up diagonally again. (In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood.<\/strong> You can purchase them at https:\/\/www.lwtears.com<\/a> or make them your self.     A whole week activity<\/strong>:
    For the phonetic<\/strong> part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter W (walrus, walk, want, warm, wash, water, wave, way, wax, we, week, well, wet, whale, what, win, wind, window, winter, wish, with, word, witch, wicked). You might want to add a picture of a violin, so that your child can say Violin does not start with W!     Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Every child is an engineer<\/strong>! For this activity, provide your child with recyclables<\/strong> like empty toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, cardboard, bottle caps, containers, scissors, tape…. and brainstorm first how to build a truck<\/strong> by listing the different truck parts. Then, assist your child in the building phase. Once built, encourage your child to paint, color and add details to the truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On the tune of \u201cOh, my Darling Clementine\u201d, we can sing: what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather, what\u2019s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold?<\/strong> (You can also change the weather words).
    Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After viewing a book, help your child sequence<\/strong> the story: what happened first, next,… at the end. Brainstorm with your child what you know about trucks. Discuss what \u201chelping hands\u201d means and how you and your child use it every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For an advanced activity<\/strong>, have your child fill in a simple story map<\/strong>. Take a sheet of paper and divide it into 3 equal size parts. Write \u201cBeginning\u201d, \u201cMiddle\u201d, and \u201cEnd\u201d and encourage your child to make a drawing about the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Spring is in the air in March! The calendar<\/strong> is a daily<\/strong> activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition.     Daily counting of tally marks<\/strong> and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?How many more (count with fingers)<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    For Egg Carton Dump Truck Art Project<\/strong>, you need (1) egg carton (makes 2 trucks), (2) hot glue (adult only), (3) scissors, (4) tempera paint or markers, (5) bottle caps or black construction paper circles for wheels, (6) plastic egg for driver (draw a face with marker).
    Directions:
    1. Cut, build and glue dump truck.

    b. Cement truck: oval, rectangle, square, circles.
    c. Garbage truck: square, rectangles, rectangle with 1 corner rounded.
    d. Pick-Up Truck: rectangles, square, circles, triangle.
