Our sun is a giant ball of gas and we could not exist without its light! We have another big ball orbiting the earth and reflecting the Light. What is it called? The moon, of course. Every night, we can see different phases of the moon. Here is the pattern to look for, as well as a craft: https://www.themailbox.com/magazines/science-resource-phases-of-the-moon-poster/phases-of-the-moon

These edible lumpy Moon Rocks are tasty! Your “astrokids” will want to whip up a batch of these delicious Treats.

Ingredients you need:

  • 24 oz. white baking chocolate
  • 1 c. peanuts
  • 1 c. pretzels
  • 10 oz. bag M&M’s
  • 10 oz. bag mini-marshmallows
  • paper baking cups
  • spoon

Give your child baking cups. Melt the white chocolate in a large microwaveable container. Stir in the remaining ingredients until everything is well coated. Have your child scoop a large spoonful of the mixture into baking cup. Chill until the mixture sets (about half an hour). Makes approximately 25 servings.

Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me by Eric Carle https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bOiw0zXQQBQ is a flap book and quite intriguing. After viewing the book, help your child recall the sequence of the story: what happened first, next and at the end. You could also discuss the size issue in the book.

Goodnight Moon by Margaret wise Brown is one of my favorite books. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkysjgb-wwQ After viewing the story, help your child complete the Goodnight Room Worksheet https://www.themailbox.com/magazines/literature-worksheet-story-recallemgoodnight-moonem/goodnight-room

The moon goes around the earth.

It travels around and around.

It takes a month or so,

To orbit earth one time!
