Guten Tag! Let’s sing together our song “Rise and Shine – Welcome to School Today” by Dr. Jean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY and our greeting song “Hello to all the children of the world”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nYjGy_ZUG8
I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.
What do you like to do?
SOCCER ⚽️ BICYCLE 🚲 TRAVEL 🧳 DANCE 💃
For the writing/reading process, have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily his/her name on paper/dry eraser board/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page), either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.
If you have My First School Book from Handwriting Without Tears methodology https://www.lwtears.com/hwt, we will use it.
In order to start learning letters, your child will need a set of big curves, little curves, big lines and little lines in wood. You can purchase them at https://www.lwtears.com or make them your self. Here is a picture: http://cdn.lwtears.com/images/uploads/1_787_large.png
Once you have your wood pieces, we will first get your child familiar with them with games:
1. Call your wooden pieces and ask to trade for another piece. You might ask “May I have the Little Line, please?
2. Wood pieces in a bag: your child reaches into the bag and tell you what they feel. For fun, you might want to add a spoon!
3. Wood pieces in the box: your child can look for matching pieces
4. Body parts and positions with wood pieces: your child moves lines like you do. Big line under my arm, over my arm,….
5. Circles and curves: your child can build a circle and tell you what a curve reminds your child of (a rainbow, a smile,…)
6. Let your child use the lines to show you different capital letters.
Also allow your child to explore them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlHhUksecZk
We can continue with My First Book, turn to page 20, 21 and 22 and have your child aim and trace. Here is a song for your child on how to hold the crayon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AXc76P-168
Watch for the proper grip and help your child to find it, if needed. https://www.lwtears.com/blog/how-to-hold-pencil-grip
Science
On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.
Language Arts
Jane Simmons wrote about Daisy and its adventures. Here is Daisy and The Egg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HW3W8eYcoI, Quack, Daisy, Quack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umVcsDyTVl8, Come Along Daisy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riCM1hA_qrs or Daisy and the Beastie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCZsobly3TI
After viewing the story, help your child to sequence the story: what happened first, next and at the end. Each book describes different emotions of happiness, sadness, fear and bravery. Brainstorm with your child when/how Daisy had the feeling, when/how you and your child might get the feeling. And how you can help each other, when the feeling is uncomfortable. (Daisy was scared and it’s mom came back to sit on the egg with Daisy and I stayed with my son until he was asleep because he had a nightmare and was scared)

Math
Daily counting of tally marks and the counters you put in a container is an excellent practice for your child’s mathematical skills. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same?
The calendar is a daily activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like. https://www.themailbox.com/magazines/september-calendar-setbr4-pages/september-calendar-set-3
