Shalom! Let’s sing together our song “Rise and Shine – Welcome to School Today” by Dr. Jean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY and our greeting song “Hello to all the children of the world”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nYjGy_ZUG8
I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.
What can you hear?

For the writing/reading process, have your child trace or copy (advanced) daily his/her name on paper/dry eraser board/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page)
If you have My First School Book from Handwriting Without Tears methodology https://www.lwtears.com/hwt, as well as My First Lowercase Book for advanced skills, we will use them.
We can continue with My First Book, turn to page 8 and have your child aim and color. Then have your child aim and trace insects on page 9 with crayons. I would recommend coloring the crayons on top of the pages Yourself. Your child might want to continue coloring pages 10 and 11.
Watch for the proper grip and help your child to find it, if needed. https://www.lwtears.com/blog/how-to-hold-pencil-grip
As another daily activity, you might want to ask your child about the poster with rules for a safe and learning environment you created together on the third day, and let him/her tell you the rules (pre-reading skills).
Science
On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.
Let’s explore with your child what kind of noise/music does different objects you can find around the house make, when your child tap it with a hand or another object like a spoon?
Here is a video about it too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMpK4L2xkZw
Language Arts
These two books are really fun to read:
From Head to Toe by Eric Carle, which is interactive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOIx72g0UdA After viewing the book once, you could reread it and have your child respond “I can do it” and physically do the movement. You can do it too!
Bear on a Bike by Stella Blackstone, which is also interactive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7YZ24mYPIE After viewing the book once, you could reread it and have your child say “where are you going bear? Please wait for me.”
Both books help you child rely on his/her memory which is important in the reading process. This technique also boosts your child self-confidence that he/she “can read.”

Math
Daily counting of tally marks and the counters you put in a container is an excellent practice for your child’s mathematical skills. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has less? Which are the same?
As an extension, you can break down the number of counters into smaller amounts in groups (For a group of 5 counters, A group of 3 and a group of 2, and see with your child which one is bigger or smaller; or a group of 1 and a group of 4 counters) and then put the counters/groups back together. Do we still have the same total amount of counters or did it change?
Art
If you have different rolls of Color tape, I would encourage your child to cut pieces with hands or scissors and let your child create without directions.
For this art project, you need (1) sponges of different shapes and texture, (2) paper, and (3) paint. Let your child explore sponge print in different color paint. After, your child’s work of art is done, ask your child to describe the art and label the painting.
