Ciao! Let’s sing together our song “Rise and Shine – Welcome to School Today” by Dr. Jean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY and our greeting song “Hello to all the children of the world”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nYjGy_ZUG8
I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.
What do you like to touch?
TEDDY BEAR 🧸 WORM 🐛 TREE 🌲 SAND 🏖
For the writing/reading process, have your child trace or copy (advanced) daily his/her name on paper/dry eraser board/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page)
If you have My First School Book from Handwriting Without Tears methodology https://www.lwtears.com/hwt, as well as My First Lowercase Book for advanced skills, we will use them.
We can start with My First Book, turn to page 4 and have your child sing the alphabet song pointing to each letter with his/her finger. Then have your child aim and scribble the stars and fireflies on pages 5, 6 and 7 with crayons. Watch for the proper grip and help your child to find it, if needed. https://www.lwtears.com/blog/how-to-hold-pencil-grip
As another daily activity, you might want to ask your child about the poster with rules for a safe and learning environment you created together on the third day, and let him/her tell you the rules (pre-reading skills).
Science
On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.
For science, you need to find different materials that your child can touch:
- Soft and hard (Like a Teddy bear and a rock)
- smooth and rough (like glass and bark)
- heavy and light (like a feather and stone)
- lumpy and grainy (like dirt clumps and sand)
- pointy and rounded (like a pencil and eraser)
You might come up with many others. Also, help your child to express what he/she feels with words. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUxt1ObFJmY
I Can Touch is another fun book. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azHgUAEDGug
Language Arts
As Quick As A Cricket by Audrey Wood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYWcyRHGFPo is a fun book to read to your child. After viewing the book, share with your child some of your attributes (I am as……. as a……..) and then help your child to come up with attributes for himself/herself. This activity helps expand your child’s vocabulary and photographic memory of words.
“I Have Ten Little Fingers” Fingerplay
I have ten little fingers and they all belong to me.
I can make them do things. Would you like to see?
I can shut them up tight. I can open them up wide.
I can clap them together. I can make them hide.
I can make them jump high. I can make them jump low.
I can fold them together & hold them just so! https://kcls.org/content/i-have-ten-little-fingers/

Math
Daily counting of tally marks and the counters you put in a container is an excellent practice for your child’s mathematical skills. Once tallied or counted, show your child the appropriate number number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day and you can also change the counters. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has less? Which are the same?
As an extension, you can break down the number of counters into smaller amounts in groups (For a group of 5 counters, A group of 3 and a group of 2, and see with your child which one is bigger or smaller; or a group of 1 and a group of 4 counters) and then put the counters/groups back together. Do we still have the same total amount of counters or did it change?
Art
Have your child explore paint with his/her hands on a piece of paper. You might want to add some shaving cream to bring texture to the washable paint and an apron to protect your child’s clothes.
For this art project, you need a paper person shape, glue and material that your child can glue on like yarn for hair, fabric/color paper for clothes, buttons,….. https://www.printablee.com/postpic/2010/04/person-cut-out-shape_358863.jpg
