Let’s sing together our song “Rise and Shine – Welcome to School Today” by Dr. Jean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyAD2OoFuoY and our greeting song “Hello to all the children of the world”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nYjGy_ZUG8
I realize that you might have to survey other members of your family for the question of the day so that your child have enough tally marks to count or have your child put more than one tally mark.
When do you see a doctor?
SICK NEED VACCINATIONS BREAK A BONE HUNGRY
For the writing/reading process, have your child trace or copy (advanced skill) daily his/her name on paper/dry eraser board/ mini blackboard (kindergarten handwriting page) starting at the top of each letter (you could draw 🙂) either in all uppercase letters or just first letter in uppercase and the rest in lowercase.
Let us start with Eddy Elephant from Letterland and listen to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtfMzp8tZ3I After listening, show your child how to write a capital E and a lower case e (advanced) starting at the top (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJnZePnDo-U). Have your child first trace the letter(s) you wrote with one finger. Writing letter e https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSy7nw4qWik
A whole week activity:
For the phonetic part, have a big yogurt container with a lid filled with small objects or pictures that start with the letter E (Elephant, egg, enveloppe, exit, elbow). You might want to add a picture of a cat, so that your child can say that cat does not start with E! Here is a book of E word pictures https://twistynoodle.com/my-e-e-book-3-minibook/ Also, you can add new objects/pictures starting with the letter E every day and let your child explore the container all through the week.
Science
During a doctor’s visit, the first stop the nurse brings you to is the weight station for you or your child. If you have a scale available, weigh yourself, your child and other members of your family and compare numbers. Your child can also weigh other things in the house: a teddy bear, a block construction, shoes, a stack of books,…
On the tune of “Clementine”, we can sing: what’s the weather, what’s the weather, what’s the weather like today? Is it cloudy, is it rainy, is it sunny, is it cold? (You can also change the weather words).
Let your child check the weather and tell you about it. You might want to ask your child to do a weather drawing that you can label. Some activities will be repetitive to create a routine that brings comfort to your child.

Our favorite characters Splat the Cat, Pete the Kitty and Froggy, all go to the doctor and have a fun experience!
- Splat the Cat Goes to the Doctor by Rob Scotton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOBQCiekqO8
- Pete the Kitty Goes to the Doctor by Kimberley and James Dean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qONYh0n4uYs
- Froggy Goes to the Doctor by Jonathan Long https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1obmnr60KQ
After viewing any book, help your child to sequence the story: what happened first, next and at the end. Share your experience going to the doctor and ask your child to share his/her experience too. If your child shows some anxiety talking about a doctor’s visit, brainstorm with your child ways to make a doctor’s visit a plaisant adventure!

“I’m Happy I’m a Doctor” Song (Tune of “My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean”)
I’m happy I’m a doctor,
I help to make people well.
I’m happy I’m a doctor,
It makes me feel just so swell.
I’m a doctor, I’m a doctor,
I help to make people well, well, well.
I’m a doctor, I’m a doctor,
I’m happy, can’t you really tell?
“I’m a Helful Doctor” Song (Tune of “I’m a Little Teapot”)
I’m a helpful doctor dressed in white,
I help people day and night.
When you get hurt or sick,
Come see me.
I’ll get you feeling better, you’ll see!
Math
What are shapes? Here is Mouse Shapes by Ellen Stoll Walsh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrNvjDzll9E Have squares, rectangles, ovals, diamonds, triangles and circles big and small out of construction paper with which your child can build what the mice show in the book. After viewing the book, allow also your child to explore with shapes (Recyclables, blocks, duplos,…)
The calendar is a daily activity to do with your child that develop number and pattern recognition. Here is the link to print a calendar to update daily with your child. The set has a weather component, if you like. https://www.themailbox.com/magazines/october-calendar-setbr4-pages/october-calendar-set-3
Daily counting of tally marks and show your child a number card or write the number down to show your child. The numbers of the tallies will be different every day. Extend the concept by comparing numbers: which has more? Which has fewer? Which are the same? How many more (count with fingers)?
