April 22nd is Earth Day and we are going to celebrate with some fun activities!

Science

Let’s walk the earth and discover its beauty with your child. Print this page https://twistynoodle.com/earth-day-nature-walk-coloring-page/ and have your child bring it with a clip board and colored pencils. You might also want to take a snack/water to enjoy on your nature walk.

Language Art

Mercer Mayer has a wonderful collection of books with bright illustrations around animal children. Here is It’s Earth Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GqM-U5dCsQ After viewing the book, help your child to come up with ways on how he/she can do to help the earth/polar bears.

Collect all kinds of recyclable items with your child and talk about giving a second life to them by putting them in the recycling bins for pick-up or doing a project. As a STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art and math) project, have your child build a structure with recyclables, tape, glue, etc. You might want to color or paint it too. Once built, have your child explain how the structure is built, why, etc.

“Wonderful Water“ Song (Tune of “Clementine”)

Don’t waste water!

Don’t waste water!
It helps the animals, land and trees.

We must protect this natural resource.

Don’t waist water, if you please!

“I Love Earth“ Song (Tune of “This Old Man”)

I love the earth.
The earth loves me.
We must live in harmony.
If you care for animals, plants, and oceans too,
The earth will be a friend to you!

“It is Recyclable!” Song (Tune of “If you are happy and you know it”)
If your bottle has a number one or two,

If your bottle has a number one or two,

It’s recyclable! It is true!

And the earth will say thank you,

If your bottle has the number one or two!
