A butterfly came to visit me. First he landed on my knee, then he tried to taste my toes! Now, he is sitting on my nose. Look around, so many butterflies are on the ground. Now, stand up there. So many butterflies are everywhere! I love rhyming. I hope you do too! Butterflies are beautiful insects going through the process of metamorphosis. We can explore them with this National Geographic Life of a Butterfly video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVm5k99PnBk

Here are some activities after reading the book https://www.pre-kpages.com/activities-hungry-caterpillar/

“The Fuzzy Wuzzy Caterpillar” Song (Tune of “The Itsy -Bitsy Spider”)

A fuzzy wuzzy caterpillar crowns upon a leaf.

Spin a little chrysalis, and then falls fast asleep.

While it is sleeping, it dreams that it can fly.

Later, when it awakes, it is a beautiful butterfly!

“From Caterpillar to Butterfly“ Fingerplay (Tune of “I am a Little Teapot”)

I am a caterpillar so cute and green. (Wiggle pointer finger)

I am inside a chrysalis and can’t be seen. (Wrap finger with other hand)

Wait a little while and you will see why. (Link thumbs and flap hands)

I will pop out as a butterfly!

“Butterfly Metamorphosis“ Song (Tune of “Three Blind Mice”)

(Three) caterpillars, (three) caterpillars,
See how they crawl? See how they crawl?
They roll up in a chrysalis,
And wait for metamorphosis,
A sight you wouldn’t want to miss!
(Three) butterflies, (three) butterflies. (You can change the number of butterflies)
