Insects Week – Ladybug

What is a powerful helper in the garden, eating plenty of aphids? I have a big vegetable garden and I usually buy 5000 ladybugs each planting season. The trick is to free them over your vegetables at night. With the cold, they move very little or hibernate. In the morning, adult ladybugs lay eggs and fly away. For this art project, you need (1) a paper bowl, (2) red tissue paper, (3) black pipe cleaners, (4) googly eyes, (5) scissors, and (6) Black construction paper.

Help your child cut the red tissue paper into little squares, the pipe cleaner in 6 legs and 2 antennae, the black construction paper into 1 head and 5 little circles. Then, glue it all together and you have a simple ladybug!
